The archaeological site in Resnik is the largest ancient site discovered to date. It is registered as a protected cultural heritage in the Register of Cultural Property maintained by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, code Z - 3761.
Many years of archaeological research have shown that it was a settlement with remains dating from the Hellenistic to the Late Roman period. According to ancient itineraries such as Tabula Peutingeriana, here we can place the only ancient settlement whose name has been preserved in the vicinity of Kaštela - Siculi. It was 5 Roman miles from Tragurion and 9 from Salona. In addition, historical sources have preserved information from Pliny the Elder about Claudius' veterans settling in this area in the 1st century AD.
